CNC Turning Process

The CNC turning machining process is a rotary machining process that produces cylindrical parts. A tool is fed into the cylindrical material and removed to obtain the designed turned part. Generally, the surface roughness of turned parts is better than that of CNC milled parts.

Once we start the CNC turning process, we evaluate the workpiece structure, accuracy criteria, and surface requirements to analyze the best machining solution; on this basis, we choose CNC lathes or turning centers or Swiss lathes for machining.

In addition to dimensional and structural turning, we also use special tools to improve the part if the drawing requires certain standards.

For example, we can use tools for some knurling, rigid tools with micron precision, and polishing tools with high polishing performance.

CNC Turning Materials

☆ Hard turning: for materials with a Rockwell C hardness greater than 45, usually after heat treatment.

☆ Spherical Generation: Creates a spherical finished surface that rotates around a fixed axis of rotation.

☆ Facing: A turning operation that machines a workpiece to its center.

☆Parting: Creates deep grooves that remove completed or part-complete components from their parent inventory.

☆Grooving: Similar to cutting off, but only cutting to a specific depth from the outside or inside of the workpiece.
